MyFonts Web Developer

Position Overview:

MyFonts began over 12 years ago with a clear mission - to make it simple for everyone to find and buy fonts. Today, MyFonts is the leading font e-commerce website and works with thousands of font designers to bring fresh and fashionable font designs to customers. MyFonts gives customers a feature-rich user experience that includes Webfonts for website design, WhatTheFont instant font identification, and powerful tools to find and organize fonts.

We are currently seeking a Web Developer to implement new features on the MyFonts website. You will work on the front-end interface and back-end services.  Every day you'll be exposed to a variety of projects like optimizing database queries, designing & streamlining the user experience of the buying process, and building web-scale systems. You’ll get to develop in PHP, Python, Java, and C++. We release code often, but aren’t trendy enough to call ourselves agile.  You'll work with a small team of other developers, designers, editors, and specialists all of whom wear many hats (in a good way), and who are encouraged to push themselves and their co-workers to be ever better.

Primary Qualifications:

• BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• The ability to prioritize work on many projects
• Experience in developing database driven web sites
• Proficient in PHP
• Proficient with client-side AJAX technologies
• Understanding of current HTML, CSS, JavaScript standards
• Solid understanding of relational database concepts and experience using SQL databases
• Ability to collaborate with team members, but also complete projects individually

Secondary Qualifications:

• Web services, both producing and consuming
• Experience with Python
• Have a love for Linux
• Prototype Javascript library
• Data structures
• Advanced Bash scripting
• Understanding of font-related technologies, e.g. TrueType, OpenType
• Mobile app development experience
